À propos de l'événement
Dust... explores the intersection of movement and philosophy, mathematics and science. Through movement, sound, video illustrations and animations, and text, Dust... examines some of the most influential theories and ideas that have led us to our present being. First, by proposing a series of numbers as experienced through movement, the work explores the equations of Newtonian mechanics, the recurrence of the Fibonacci sequence, and the golden ratio, before proposing a consideration of the Computational Theory of the Mind, a dominant paradigm in psychology and neuroscience. After exploring whether our minds are similar to the inner workings of a computer, and the implications this comparison holds for the concepts of free will and rational choice, Dust... breaks away from the mathematical theorems to reveal the joy of just being.
School performances also include other theatrical contemporary dance pieces which are joyous and fun for young audiences. School groups will be given study material, and pre and post-show activities for teachers to utilize in the classroom.
A minimum of 20 tickets is required per school. The theatre has a capacity of 240 people. Book today to secure your tickets, and please message Dance Equations should you have any special requests or questions.
